TE_REG partner KU Leuven 

Jan
Elen

is full professor at the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences and affiliated to the Center for Instructional Psychology and Technology (CIP&T) at KU Leuven, focuses on educational technology and TE. His contributions in educational technology include ICT use by teachers, games for professional education, and blended learning. He is actively involved in designing learning environments for complex learning and studying how students engage with learning opportunities. In TE, his research includes pedagogical content knowledge, promoting critical thinking, and core practices. Methodologically, his research is diverse, ranging from quasi-experimental studies to analysing students' behaviour using log-files in learning environments.

Machteld
Vandecandelaere 

is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences and affiliated to the Center for Instructional Psychology and Technology (CIP&T) at KU Leuven. She is the program director for the Master of Teaching Behavioural Sciences and is responsible for the teaching methodology courses and trainee teachers' internships. Students taking this master's degree are prepared for the job as a secondary school teacher in subjects related to psychology and educational sciences.

Stijn
Dhert

is a senior expert, certified teacher educator with a master's degree in educational sciences (KU Leuven). Holder of the Appreciative Inquiry Certificate in Positive Business and Society Change (Case Western Reserve University). Stijn is former dean of Group T – Leuven Education College and former director of educational affairs at UC Leuven-Limburg. Currently, he is teacher educator and researcher-developer at KU Leuven. Stijn is UNESCO’s ASPnet National Coordinator for Belgium, Flanders and advisory member at the Flemish Commission for UNESCO.

An-Sofie
Verheye

studied social and cultural pedagogical sciences at KU Leuven, and became a teacher in the field of behavioural sciences. She gained experience in Brussels to work with those living on the fringes of society. She became a student counsellor and teacher educator at KU Leuven. She still works as a teacher educator at KU Leuven and as a student counselor focusing on creating learning opportunities for students with learning disabilities, mental issues and/or motivational problems.

TE_REG partner UCLL (University of Applied Science)

Partner UC Leuven vzw is a HEI in Flanders, collaborating under the name UC Leuven-Limburg (UCLL) together with UC Limburg vzw. UCLL is renowned for the quality of its teaching, research and regional development. More than 30 professional bachelor (EQF 6) and 30 lifelong learning study programmes are offered in various study areas: Education, Health Care, Applied Social Studies, Applied Engineering & Technology, and Business Management. Each year, about 14000 students are enrolled in UCLL. Moreover, about 15000 professionals follow a training, seminar or workshop at UCLL. Given the importance of teacher education at UCLL, there is a broad range of practice-oriented research on education and teacher training mutually influencing one another. Most research on teaching and learning is concentrated in three research centers: Art of teaching, Education & development en Inclusive society. Particularly relevant for this project is the study on the development of change proficiency of student-teacher to respondent deliberately to calls of society and a study on the hidden curriculum in higher education.

Mieke
Van Ingelghem

is a teacher educator and researcher with a PhD in Educational Sciences (KU Leuven). She has research experience in the domain of educational technology and TE. Currently she teaches in the Master of Teaching Behavioral Sciences at KU Leuven, in combination with the Master of Teaching in Visual Arts (PXL University of Applied Sciences and Arts, Hasselt, Belgium).

This core group is surrounded by a team of in total 12 teacher educators for the master of teaching in behavioural sciences and in the CIP&T 6 academics and a group of over 30 doctoral students.

An
Verburgh 

a lecturer and researcher at the UCLL Teacher Education Department, focuses on Education for Sustainable Development, Global Competences, Participation and Critical Thinking. She is a co-designer of the curriculum of the UCLL International Educating Class, a UNESCO-based program for sustainable development and peacebuilding. She is committed to allowing her students to engage in dialogue with students from all over the world and to realize with them transformative learning environments on the campus and in the schools. She initiated the UNESCO ASPnet Collaborative Change Experiment (2021) and developed "The Passe-partout Critical Thinking" (2020), a teacher's guide for stimulating critical thinking in the classroom.

Dijana
Vučković

PhD, Associate Professor, Vice-dean for teaching affairs at the Faculty of Philosophy. Employed for 18 years at the UoM as a teacher and researcher. Teaching and research areas include general teaching methodology, methodology of teaching mother tongue and literature, teaching reading and writing, reception of literature by children and youth, literacies, and key competencies (e.g. communication, civic competence, learning to learn, cultural awareness), teaching methods, learning strategies, curriculum development, academic integrity etc. She is a certified Montessori pedagogue, an author, and a trainer of several programs of in-service teacher training. She is the president of the UNESCO Chair for Education for Democratic Citizenship and Human Rights Education at the UoM. 

Veselin 
Mićanović

PhD, Full Professor, Vice-rector at the UoM. He received his doctorate from the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics in Novi Sad (Serbia) in the field of didactic and methodological sciences. His research is mainly in the field of early childhood development, inclusive education and teaching of mathematics in primary school. He also deals with in-service teacher training and has authored or co-authored several professional training programs, accredited by the Institute of Education of Montenegro. He is engaged in research in mathematics teaching methodology, inclusive education and school practice. He participated at several international scientific conferences and has published more than 80 scientific papers in various scientific journals.

Tatjana 
Novović

PhD, Full professor, Dean at the Faculty of Philosophy. She graduated at the Faculty of Philosophy in Sarajevo, Department for Pedagogy and Psychology. She defended PhD thesis in 2008 at the University of Belgrade. Since 2005, she works as a teaching assistant at the Faculty of Philosophy in Nikšić. Since 2009 she has worked as an assistant professor and from 2020 as a full professor at the Faculty of Philosophy. She was coordinator of TEMPUS project FOSFIM as well as coordinator of national scientific research project: »Effects of reform changes in educational context of preschool education in Montenegro«. She is an active researcher in pre-school pedagogy and inclusive education. She has published more than sixty scientific papers. She has participated in numerous international scientific conferences.

Muhonen 

is a lecturer, teacher educator and researcher working in University of Helsinki Viikki Teacher Training School where theory and practice go hand in hand every day. She has been working for Finnish National Core Curriculumformation and written several books and e-materials for primary schools. Since 2019 she has been coordinating Finnish Teacher Training Institutions UNESCO network, including the web page UNESCO-koulutoiminta - eNorssi

Dr. student Perttu 
Ervelius 

is a lecturer, teacher educator and a doctoral researcher, engaged in research about thinking skills (creative, critical and computational thinking) in the University of Helsinki, Viikki Teacher Training School. His expertise is in digital learning, focusing on how to teach and learn in a digital environment. This specialization has led him to become an expert in the use of artificial intelligence in educational settings, an area that is revolutionizing the way we approach learning and teaching. In addition, he serves as a subject teacher (lecturer) in mathematics and physics having a passion for innovation and a commitment to preparing educators for the challenges of the modern world.

Who are we?

Centro de Formação Dr. Rui Grácio is a public in-service teacher training centre of schools association since 1993. The Agrupamento de Escolas Júlio Dantas is the head school as legal entity. The centre is responsible for the management and evaluation of in-service teacher training in the southwest region of the Algarve, in Portugal. It is certified by the Scientific and Pedagogic Board of In-service Teacher Training of the Portuguese Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation. This Centre is also a UNESCO associated school (ASP-NET UNESCO) and it is engaged in educational projects for Human Rights, Intercultural Dialogue, Cultural Heritage and Sustainable Development Goals. 

What do we do?

The centre coordinates the Continuing Professional Development plan of 4 school clusters, 600 teachers and 250 other school personnel in the area of Lagos, Aljezur and Vila do Bispo municipalities. The centre has the scientific-pedagogic expertise to conceive and organize several teacher training projects under several modalities, presential, e-learning and b-learning: workshops, courses, seminars, conferences, study circles, innovation projects (local, regional, national and European or international level).  It officially certifies teachers and other educational staff for CPD purposes and career progression. The centre also promotes international cooperation for the study, the analysis and the debate around educational issues and problems.

Teacher Educator; Teacher of History at AE Júlio Dantas, in Lagos; She has got a Master’s degree in Modern History and a PhD in Modern History, Faculty of Humanities, University of Lisbon.  She is a certified teacher trainer in the areas of History and Citizenship Education. Currently, she teaches at the University of Algarve the Bachelor's and Master’s degree in History Teaching. She has implemented several projects in the field of Education for Citizenship and Development. She has made a training course in the field of Pedagogical Evaluation and has been a teacher trainer in this field for the last 5 years. She was a member of the central team of MAIA nacional Project: “Monitoring, Research and Teacher Training in Pedagogical Evaluation”, Ministry of Education. She was a Representative of CFAE Dr. Rui Grácio for Autonomy and Curricular Flexibility, Ministry of Education, for 4 years.  

Ana Cristina 
Madeira

Director of Centro de Formação Dr. Rui Grácio. Teacher Educator. Graduated in Modern Languages and Literatures. She’s post-graduated in Educational Sciences. Has completed a PhD course on: "Didactics and Organisation of the Educational Institutions" (curricular part) at the University of Seville. Presently, she prepares her PhD Thesis in the field of “Educational Innovation and Teachers Professional Development” at the University of Lisbon. She is in charge for the management and evaluation of the Continuing Professional Development plan for 600 teachers and 250 non-teaching staff members. She was the European coordinator of two Comenius Multilateral Projects (Sócrates and LLP). She is a teacher educator and researcher in the areas of Educational Innovation, Curriculum Development, Teachers Professional Development and author of publications and communications in Seminars and Conferences in the field of Teacher Education.
